Gomukhasana: Awareness and Release in the Hips

Our hips are often referred to as the body's emotional storage center. When we hold tension or unresolved emotions, they tend to settle in this area, creating tightness and discomfort. Gomukhasana, or Cow Face Pose, is a powerful posture for gently stretching and opening the hips, encouraging both physical release and emotional healing.
By folding the legs in this seated posture, Gomukhasana targets deep connective tissues, improving flexibility and circulation in the hips and lower back. For women, this pose is particularly supportive during the monthly cycle or times of hormonal shifts, as it helps ease tension and promotes relaxation.
Emotionally, opening the hips can stir up feelings, allowing you to confront and release what no longer serves you. With each breath, Gomukhasana invites awareness, patience, and a sense of letting go, creating space for healing and growth.
Practice This: Sit with one knee stacked over the other and ensure your sitting bones are evenly grounded. If needed, sit on a folded blanket for support. Stay in the pose for 1–2 minutes on each side, focusing on slow, deep breaths. Notice how your hips begin to soften and how the release resonates through your entire body.

Press reset on your hormones and soothe your nervous system with this calming, hormone-friendly yoga sequence. This practice is designed to release tension, improve circulation, and balance your stress hormones so you can feel calmer, sleep better, and regain steady energy.
Perfect for days when you’re feeling stressed, burnt out, or just in need of a gentle yet effective reset.
