Six Things That Actually Helped My Endometriosis
A Holistic Approach Rooted in TCM
When you're in pain, what you really need is something you can actually do. Today. Right now.
These are six holistic strategies that have made the biggest difference for me personally — and for the women I work with — in managing endometriosis and chronic pelvic pain. Not plucked from a textbook. Every single one rooted in my own lived experience and the BHR Framework™ — Body Heart Release.
1. 🥗 Eat to reduce inflammation — not to be perfect
In TCM, what we eat directly affects the flow of Qi and Blood through the body. For women with endometriosis, reducing Dampness and Heat — two TCM patterns strongly associated with the condition — starts with food.
Practically this means:
Colourful vegetables, omega-3s from seeds and oily fish, fibre-rich foods
Warm, cooked meals over raw and cold — especially during your Winter phase
Reducing sugar, alcohol, processed foods and anything that creates inflammation
But please hear this — it's not about perfection. It's about noticing what your body responds to and gently adjusting. One change at a time.
2. 🧘 Move gently — especially when you don't want to
I know. When you're in pain the last thing you want to do is move. But gentle movement — yin yoga, restorative practices, slow walks — can be profoundly anti-inflammatory.
In TCM, stagnant Qi creates pain. Movement — even very small amounts — gets things flowing again.
During your Inner Winter and Inner Autumn phases, keep it slow and floor-based. During Spring and Summer, you can build gently. The key word is always gently.
My YouTube channel has practices specifically designed for each Inner Season — all free, all accessible, all rooted in TCM.

3. 🫙 Try a castor oil pack
This is one of my absolute favourites and one of the most underrated tools for endometriosis.
A castor oil pack applied to the lower abdomen can reduce inflammation, support lymphatic drainage and provide gentle, warming pain relief. In TCM it supports the movement of Blood and Qi in the lower burner — exactly where endometriosis tends to create the most stagnation.
Use it during your non-bleeding phases — Spring, Summer or Autumn — for the best results. Twenty minutes lying down with a heat pack on top is genuinely one of the most nourishing things you can do for yourself.
4. 🌬️ Manage stress — seriously
I cannot overstate this one.
Chronic stress is one of the most significant drivers of endometriosis symptoms. In TCM, prolonged stress causes Liver Qi Stagnation — and the liver governs the smooth flow of everything in your body. When it's under pressure, pain increases, hormones dysregulate and sleep deteriorates.
Breathwork has been the single most transformative stress tool for me personally. Even five minutes of slow, exhale-focused breathing can shift your nervous system out of fight-or-flight and into rest and digest.
The Womb Wisdom Reflection tool in She Thrives™ is also a beautiful daily stress release practice — guided prompts, gratitude and gentle release work, all in your pocket.

5. 🌿 Consider herbal support
Turmeric, ginger, ashwagandha — these aren't just trendy wellness ingredients. In TCM and Ayurvedic medicine they have been used for centuries to reduce inflammation, support liver function and balance hormones.
I'm not going to give you a specific protocol here — because endometriosis is not one-size-fits-all and what works brilliantly for one woman can be contraindicated for another. Always work with a qualified herbalist or TCM practitioner for tailored recommendations.
But do explore it. There is so much support available beyond conventional medicine.
6. 👂 Learn to listen to your body
I've saved this one for last because it's the most important — and the one most of us find hardest.
Rest when you need to rest. Say no when your body needs you to. Track your symptoms, your energy, your mood across your cycle and start noticing the patterns.
This is exactly what the Cycle Tracker in She Thrives™ is designed to support — daily, simple, private. Over time the patterns it reveals will tell you more about your body than any blood test.

One final thing.
Endometriosis is complex. Healing is not linear. And no list of strategies — however good — replaces personalised support.
If you're ready to go beyond self-management and work with someone who has lived this journey themselves, I'd love to invite you to a free 30 minute Discovery Call.
No pressure. No pitch. Just a conversation about where you are and what might help.
